Annual Christmas Party
Lots of food, laughter, gifts, singing, and fun - that was the essence of this grand annual affair. The O'Briens' again were our excellent hosts, opening their nicely-decorated house to about 50 people who showed up bearing food for the potluck, wrapped gifts for the exchange, and boundless congeniality. David M and Kathy O led the rollicking and tuneful singing; Willie wowed us again with his wonderful rendition of “O Holy Night”; and Tim, Evelyn’s husband, added a great touch with his trumpet in a duet with David M on piano. Chuck and Maureen repeated their well-received performance of their “Dancers, Dancers” routine, a hilarious take-off on a scene from “White Christmas.” It was originally performed at our 25th anniversary celebration in May. You have to see it to believe it! Thanks to everyone present for making the party a huge success. See more photos.
Social Group

We’re having a near-Valentine's Day LOVE FEST! All members (people who love the RKIDs) are invited to a dinner with people who share their fondness for our dance group. It will be on Saturday, February 18th at the O’Brien’s. Seating will be limited. Details will be available in early January; watch our calendar. The menu will be made up of recipes from “Our Favorite Recipes.”
The December brunch at the Woodside Deli drew six RKIDs: Sonja, Tom, Bill, Madelyn, Roger, and Maura. A good breakfast and interesting conversation were enjoyed by all. Next one is Saturday, January 7, 2017.
About Town
Kathryn organized a group to see the Christmas Revels, which this year was an expansive production of Scandinavian-themed Christmas songs, dances and stories. With her were Christine, Mary Ann, Madelyn and Bill plus Kathryn's daughter, Carolyn. They dined at Bertucci's afterwards.
Again this year our very own Jean Wds sang in the Rockville Chorus' concert. The show's title was Let it Snow (which it fortunately didn't) and it was performed at the Fitzgerald Theater in Rockville. In the audience were Joe, Tom, Sonja, Michelle, Toni, David D, and Connie.Sonja said it was a "beautiful concert.
Travel

MaryAnn and husband Dick will be in Florida (lucky!!) for the holidays. For the first time in quite a while, the whole family will be together for Christmas.
Some people just know how to start off the New Year right! Chris and Sharon C will be traveling to Hawaii for a couple weeks. They are looking forward to spending time with their son.
The peripatetic Kathryn just returned from Cuba! She happened to be there the week of Fidel Castro's funeral.
