Here's the calendar of events sponsored by the RKIDs, other area Irish social dance organizations, and cool things our members are doing or suggesting. Deadline for submittals: give changes to the website coordinator by Saturday for posting by the next Tuesday. All content must meet RKIDs' editorial acceptability rules. Hairy Eyeball

What: Irish Set Dance classes. For adults interested in learning commonly danced sets, tailored to beginners but all are welcome.

Details:
$5/class lesson. No experience nor partner is necessary. Irish dancing is energetic, so you'll want to bring water and wear comfortable clothing+ shoes with smooth soles (not athletic shoes) for dancing.

Classes are held on most Tuesday evenings this Fall. 13 sessions are planned. We take checks, cash or major credit cards for payment. New students: the first two classes are free!

What: GWCC teaches Irish Set and Ceili dancing on Thursdays until Dec. 4.

Details:
$60 for 12 classes; dancers can attend both classes at no extra cost. Teacher is Ann Marie Breheny.
Beginners class teaches the basics of set and ceili dances; Continuers class is for less common or more advanced sets. Instruction includes Set of the Month.

What: The music group Bedlam Colonial Music, with our own John T., will be performing at the Belair Mansion in Bowie.

Free admission, no reservations needed. Bedlam Colonial Music is an 18th century music group. They'll be playing a mix of traditional Christmas tunes along with some of the greatest hits of the 1700s. The mansion will be decked out in all its finery.

The concert blends ancient Gaelic carols, lively Irish tunes, familiar holiday melodies, and vibrant rhythms from Galicia and Brittany—all with a Celtic twist. Fiddles and bagpipes evoke the spirit of Christmastime and Winter Solstice celebrations.

What: The unique 5-mile route takes place entirely within the confines of Baltimore's scenic Druid Hill Park. The post-race party features hot soup, hot Wassail Wine, hot coffee and hot chocolate, bagpipes, Irish Wolfhounds, and plenty of Holiday cheer!

Location:Race starts at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

This is the “race” which one can run or walk. THE RACE WILL BE CAPPED AT 3,000 PARTICIPANTS. $76.65 registration fee. Must register early to assure that you get a spot in the race as well as the premium shirt size you desire. Recommended by Chuck and Clare.
