Irish Activities

Once again, the Emerald Isle Club (EIC) held their monthly ceili in Parkville, Maryland, and attracted a large group of great dancers. Marilyn M called the dances while Tom, Sonja, Toni, David, Bill, Madelyn, Obie, Jean and Joe W, Marilyn O and former members Bridget and Russell reeled and jigged across the floor. A great time was had by all! Many thanks go out to Jody and Cecilia of the EIC for making us feel so welcomed.

 Club Events

Our monthly breakfast at Bennigan’s continues to attract a lively contingent of RKIDs. The gang lined up for a photo, with (L to R) Sonja, Judy, Tom, Mary Ann, Kathryn, Kate, Dan, Bobbie, Madelyn, Marilyn, Bill and Roger.

 About Town

Some members of the Ring of Kerry Irish Dancers showed up at a Maryland Women’s basketball game on Friday, February 5th. “The Winding Stream: The Carter, the Cashes and the Course of Country Music,” a documentary about these families and their contributions to an entire genre of American music, thrilled the audience at Strathmore recently. In the audience: Judy, Kathryn, MaryAnn, and Marilyn O.

Evelyn and Marie attended the recent performance of the Montgomery Philharmonic, which includes Evelyn’s husband, Tim, in the brass section. “Fantastic concert.”

 Celebrations

Kevin and Liz are vacationing in Florida right now. He spends most of his time fishing and, finally, all that effort paid off with this nine-pound largemouth bass catch. It’s his biggest fish ever. Congratulations, Kevin!

Bill and Gerry just celebrated their 46th anniversary. Congratulations to the happy couple!

 Travel

Emmett made it to Tanzania and has started off on his trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

For those of you who saw the film, you know the boarding house scenes were some of the funniest in the production. Unfortunately, Saoirse Ronan will not be cast in the series, but the setting and other characters will more than make up for her loss. Stay tuned.
